i'm not sure if i've mentioned this before, but i write a blog for the best dress company of all time, shabby apple. i have mentioned it? good. then we're all on the same page. (shameless self-promotion? check.)

the current good news about the shabby apple blog is that there is a contest on, and you could be a big-time winner! i mean a big-time winner. and, entering is not hard at all. and have i mentioned you could be a winner? because you could be. a real, live winner. (or is it a real-life winner? maybe my parents and their dictionary will come to the rescue again.)

blogging for life

part of my long-term life plan involves getting famous (and hopefully filthy rich!) from blogging. i know that this can be done, and i am going to try my darndest to figure out how. (any suggestions or tips are welcome and encouraged, btw.)

for starters, i figured expanding my presence on this here interweb could only be a good idea, so i agreed to start a blog for ck's company, shabby apple. you should check it out because it means another dose of my wit, charm and brilliance, plus stylish dresses. which can also only be a good idea for everyone involved.

and it's an especially good idea because right now, this very second, on the shabby apple blog, we are running a charity auction to help stephanie nielson and her husband, christian, two friends of shabby apple who were involved in a private plane crash a few weeks ago and are facing months of difficult recovery and mounting medical bills. to learn more, go here or here.

it's not every day you can get a completely adorable dress and help a family in need, so i suggest taking advantage of it post-haste. i also suggest telling your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, train seatmates and people you meet in the grocery store to take advantage of it as well. i promise you won't be sorry.

we've got some junk in our trunk

my oh-so-talented and ever-stylish roommate, ck, owns a dress company (check it out at www.shabbyapple.com) and we hosted a trunk show last week... basically a chance for people to come over, eat delicious food (i am a newly ardent convert to gingerbread brownies) and try on adorable dresses, all in the comfort of our home. could anything be better? i thought not. things did get a little hairy with limited changing space (let's just say i think lots of strangers left good "we've taken off our clothes together" friends) but, contrary to my secret hopes, there were no brawls or knock 'em down and drag 'em outs over the merchandise. in fact, i think almost everyone left with something fabulous. check it out!
