I was singing along and Jonathan started laughing at me. Supposedly "Ba ba ba, ba bab a ram" is in fact "Barbara Ann." Ever since childhood I have sung it incorrectly. Now of course listening to the lyrics it makes perfect sense that it is a female name. I don't know though, I think I will continue to sing "ba ba ram" anyway. It is more fun.Abbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10675352516850449685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7018782984608353962.post-35304244334744376762008-10-18T13:41:00.000-04:002008-10-18T13:41:00.000-04:00i'll concede the "heretofore"/"hereafter" point. You used "heretofore" as foreward looking. It is not, but rather the opposite. Heretofore: up to this time (according to Webster).
PopsterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7018782984608353962.post-14150647308582226462008-10-17T19:14:00.000-04:002008-10-17T19:14:00.000-04:00Frances:Technically, there is a difference between...Frances:
Technically, there is a difference between a "word," in the grammatical sense, and a "place name." Carmel is a place name, but it is not a word. So, as is usual, your mother is correct.
PopsterAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
